Description paulreeves 2008-10-24 12:45:57 UTC
Extension Manager shows Professional Template Pack II - English 1.0 installed;
however, there is no indication in the Template Organizer of the new
templates. Even scanning through systems folders with Explorer failed to find
the new template files.
Re-installing the download as an executable made no difference.
Removing and re-installing the extension through Extension Manager made no
differenc.

VA->Paul: If you choose File|New|Templates and Documents -> Templates, there
should now be categories like Finance, Personal Correspondence and
Documents, Miscellaneous, etc. These folders contain the new templates. With
Win XP I have no problems, but I will re-check it on a Vista system.

VA! I finally figured out how to access the "Additional comments" capability
- ONE HAS TO LOG IN!!!!!!!!!!!! [That seems to be a very important piece of
information that needs to be more precisely stated in the automatic emails -
I'll raise another issue on it, as I see others have been tricked before)

Thanks for checking on a Vista box (my apologies for Vista - I couldn't turn
down a free OS - but I should have).
Yes, I see the Template folders with every tool available. Unfortunately,
their contents did not change to include the 120 new templates advertised with
the Extension.
Since filing this issue originally I have tried:
- uninstalling my prior version of OO (2.4)
- uninstalling and reinstalling OO 3.0
- disabling and renabling the Profession Template II package in the Extension
Manager
- removing and reinstalling the extension

The new templates are still hiding - a Vista "feature".

Thanks for your cycles on this; I really wanna use these templates!

@Paul: I installed this template pack on a Vista machine without any problems
(tested with OOo 3.0).

The templates are stored in a *hidden* folder. Please check on your system, if you
have a path something like this: C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming
\OpenOffice.org\3\user\uno_packages\cache\uno_packages\58CD.tmp_
\Sun_ODF_Template_Pack2_en-US.oxt\template\...

... finance\
... layout\
... misc\
... officorr\
... offimisc\
... personal\

"58CD.tmp_" is a random folder name, so it will differ from your actual path.

Could you please check, if these folders contain the templates?

Very helpful - thank you!
Here are the matching results from my system:

Under my Users folder “Me†/.../.../OpenOffice.org/3
User
	uno-packages
		A.tmp
			Sun_ODF_Template_Pack_en-US.oxt
		B.tmp
			Sun-Presentation-Minimizer_Win32Intel.oxt
		C.tmp
			TemplateChanger.zip

[This is all also duplicated in another directory with the parent
OpenOffice.org2. This is notable since I have removed OO 2.4 and would have
hoped it took its baggage with it.]

There are also other Users folders “TMP†and “TMP.me†but they don't contain
any OO directories

The template pack “Sun_ODF_Template_Pack_en-US.oxt†under A.tmp appears to be
the OO 2.4 files or the basic templates for OO 3 (hard to tell without a
“marker†file name)

My own templates created and stored by OO 3 are in the path specified in my
Options – Path. I don't see the OO 3 supplied templates storage with Vista's
Explorer; however, OO Template Organizer allows me to work with them with no
difficulty (where ever they are kept)

A Vista Explorer search for “Sun_ODF_Template_Pack2_en-US†under the Users
directory found only the “.oxt†file in my Downloads folder from the OO site.

In short:
- using Explorer I can't find the basic OO 3 templates storage, nor "Pack2"
templates
- using OO Template Organizer I can see my own and the basic OO 3 templates,
but no "Pack2" templates

Is there a unique "marker" file in the Pack2 package that I can search for?

Due to the fact, that I cannot reproduce this bug I set resolution to "worksforme"
for the present.

Understand you wish to close this and that is OK; I am sure you have higher
priority issues.

However, will you please answer my last comment by indicating a particular
file name I can look for from Pack II? (a marker file = unique to the
extension)

I am having inconsistent results with another extension of Impress backgrounds.
They appear to be available for use at one point and then not there later.
Removing and re-installing the extension makes them available again.

I am wondering if the problems are related?
Thanks, Paul
