Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 94784
Sun PDF Import Extension [Beta] 0.3.1/0.3.2-LinuxIntel does not open PDF in OOo 3.0_m9(RC4)

[Version] AllLanguages=en-US buildid=300m9(Build:9358) ExtensionUpdateURL=http://updateext.services.openoffice.org/ProductUpdateService/check.Update OOOBaseVersion=3.0 ProductBuildid=9358 ProductMajor=300 ProductMinor=9 ProductPatch= ProductSource=OOO300 UpdateID=OpenOffice.org_3_en-US UpdateURL=http://update30.services.openoffice.org/ProductUpdateService/check.Update?pkgfmt=deb UpdateUserAgent=<PRODUCT> (${buildid}; ${_OS}; ${_ARCH}; BundledLanguages=${AllLanguages}) PDF Import extension from: http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/node/972 Sun PDF Import Extension [Beta] 0.3.1-LinuxIntel Opening a pdf (File|Open) results in the pdf file not opening in Draw, but instead opens as text in Writer. File|Open and then selecting a PDF, any PDF results in the ASCII Filter Options dialog popup. The extension _does_ work (albeit limited - see: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=90739) in StarOffice 9: [Version] AllLanguages=en-US buildid=300m3(Build:9328) ExtensionUpdateURL=http://updateext.services.openoffice.org/ProductUpdateService/check.Update OOOBaseVersion=3.0 ProductBuildid=9328 ProductMajor=300 ProductMinor=3 ProductPatch= ProductSource=BEB300 UpdateID=StarOffice_9_en-US UpdateURL=http://update9.staroffice.de/ProductUpdateService/check.Update?pkgfmt=rpm UpdateUserAgent=StarOffice 9 (300m3(Build:9328); $_OS; $_ARCH; BundledLanguages=en-US)
In OOo 3.0: If the extension is removed, then attempting to install 0.3.2 results in an Extension Manager popup "InvalidValueException". CPU goes to 90% (2.4Ghz/1GB machine) until the popup is dismissed by clicking the "OK" button. This error is repeatable. $ md5sum pdfimport.oxt 36785c4e66144f7a1cd9e5892fd8d567 pdfimport.oxt

I've just discovered that the 0.3.2 extension can _only_ be installed if: 1) soffice is opened as root, and 2) the extension is install for _all_ users. Owner of Sun PDF Import Extension: please advise if this may be an extension manager issue & if so I'll file a bug for that as well.
I had problem to install the extension on MS Vista 64 bit. Advice from linux helped A run OpenOffice as Administrator and the installation went well. However, Importing does not work, it looks, like the extension does not come into effect at all (OOo is applying some text filter asking me for text encoding).

Closing this bug report as I can no longer reproduce on OOo 3.3.x.
