Description per.ooo 2008-09-27 08:07:43 UTC
Filing a report sent by email to me:

I am using OpenOffice 3.0.0 for Mac OS X (Intel) version OOO300m7
(Build: 9354) which I downloaded and installed today. The beta version
before had the same problem btw.

Im am using Mac OS X (Intel) 10.4.11 (german) on a Mac mini wth 1 GB RAM.

My special installation uses a "portrait" monitor connected via DVI -
BUT - not the usual "landscape" orientation. One can change the
monitor's orientation in the normal system preferences inside OS X (I
have 90 degrees now)

The monitor is from LG, type is L226W. The second enclosed screenshot
shows the monitor's preferences.

The problem is:

All OpenOffice applications seen to show rather unusual
disproportional buttons in dialog fields, but they seem to work.

Calc seems to behave rather well (although many parts of the
application's user interface are too big), but the Writer application
behaves as shown in the first screenshot. I took a screenshot of the
whole huge screen, so you will see the ratio is not OK. Same thing
when you start a new empty file: The paper area is much too narrow,
the kerning too is much too narrow. At the same time the selector
boxes for font size and fonts appear also disproportioned. You will
see (Bild 1.png)

I hope you'll be able to spot the bug quickly for it is rather
obvious. Apparently the programmers didnt think of screens being
tilted 90 degrees :) - all other apps I have behave fine so far!

If you are not the right person to talk to, I apologize for stealing
your time - could you please forward my mail give me a pointer where
to look at?

Thank you very much in advance!

confirm, we still have problems using devices with different (dpi) resolutions

BTW: "macport" is not a real person, it is a meta account for currently
unassigned issues.
