Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 93656
Mimetypes not assigned while keeping old version
Last modified: 2008-09-13 10:12:55 UTC
Installation of OOo_3.0.0rc1_20080904_Win32Intel_install_de.exe on WinXP During the installation I choosed to keep the old version. -> All OOo-Files keep assigned to 2.4.1 I expected to have them assigned to the new version, else you would come across the nag-screen for the new file format every time you missed the "Open with" when you start to edit a file you have had in 3.0
Addition: "Alle älteren Produktversionen entfernen" (translated "remove older versions") does not give the user really the full choice. I have no way to use the new version by default and to keep the old one.
I can't reproduce. I've installed OOo 2.4.1 and OOo 3 RC1 for all users. Mimetypes are assigned to OOo 3. Can it be that you've installed OOo 2.4.1 for current user and OOo 3 for all user? In this case the mimetype settings for current user 'overrule' the settings for all users. That's MS registry functionality.
Maybe this is the cause. I'm the only user on the machine but do not remember the installation. In the meantime the integration is completely messed up. I uninstalled 3.0RC1 (Directories removed manually) and reinstalled choosing to remove the older version. Now I'm asked which program should be used for the ODTs.
Checked on another system, I found the mimetypes assigned to 3.0 when choosing to keep the old version. Resolving as worksforme.
