Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 93234
how many file-type menus in save/open dialogs in KDE/Gnome
Last modified: 2009-11-28 22:13:16 UTC
Which desktop is running determines how many file type-relevant menus appear in an Open or Save dialog. The 2 menus occur when Writer is running with the Gnome 2.10.0 desktop. When the desktop for KDE 3.4.0-6 Red Hat is running, only 1 menu appears in the dialog. This appears to be a defect in restricting functionality when running with KDE, not with Gnome. Perhaps a decision should be made to combine the 2 menus for convenience or to disaggregate the 1 menu for user control. I favor disaggregating 1 into 2 when KDE is running, especially if label clarity is provided (as discussed in issue 93052). Fields in this issue initialized automatically by your site based on the terminal I'm using when submitting this are irrelevant, since I'm submitting from a public terminal. -- Nick

I'm closing this issue. This is Gnome-specific. The setting that controls which dialogs appear for the Save and Open functions is in Tools > Options but only if the Gnome desktop environment is running; whereas if KDE is running Writer > Tools > Options doesn't have the option. When OOo dialogs are run in either desktop environment, a single type menu appears, not two. So the problem only occurs when OS dialogs are run. So this is about a non-OOo dialog when Gnome is running. So it's their problem. This is based on OOo 3.0.0 OOO300m9 (Build 9358). A somewhat related issue is at Bug 105789 (http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=105789). Thank you.
