Description jrtayloriv 2008-08-28 22:11:02 UTC
KPDF (The KDE PDF reader) has a feature where if you click the "Open" button
(represented by a little open folder) on the toolbar, it loads the normal "Open
File..." dialog, where you can browse directories/files to choose one to open.

But if you click and *hold* on the "Open" button, a dropdown menu appears,
containing your recently opened files, in reverse chronological order (most
recently opened first).

I have found it to be a great usability enhancement. It saves me from having to
go to File->Recently Opened --> The File I want (it removes a step from the
process). It is very intuitive to use, and I don't see it causing any problems
for users, because it would still respond normally (opening the dialog) to the
usual action (clicking it)...

Is this possible to implement in the OO suite?

I'm missing such feature too. But I prefer the little triangle as it is used for
user symbols in toolbars. To access the recent documents from the toolbar is a
very good idea. But you are not the first one with this idea ;) See issue 69168
and issue 49785.
