Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 9318
Splash Screen doesn't refresh itself, leaves mouse cursor trails
Last modified: 2004-03-09 10:52:23 UTC
The splash screen for openoffice doesn't refresh itself properly and may display mouse cursor trails all over itself. Steps to Reproduce: 1) Pick an animated cursor. For instance, 'launch feedback, busy cursor' in KDE. 2) Open up an openoffice application. 3) Move your cursor all over the splash screen. 4) Notice the splash screen start to disappear as it doesn't refresh itself properly. Expected results: Splash screen displays normally like any other window. Actual results: It looks pretty bad. Additional Observations: I've observed this under mandrake 9.0, redhat 8.0, KDE 3.0.3 and 3.0.4. I believe it also happens under gnome.
Not a UI issue.
unfortunately that's true.
needs rework of the splash screen
CP: would not touch this one.
Since he's on linux, this is behavior common to almost all applications -- if you move the cursor over the splash image, you get ghosts - -kind of cute, actually, but doesn't affect anything. Since he's using a truly ancient version of OOo, I would suggest this issue be closed and he be directed to download the latest version. I can hardly remember what the old splash screen looks like.
According to the OpenOffice.org roadmap (http://tools.openoffice.org/releases) this issue was retargeted to OOo Later.
