Description zanonmark 2002-11-17 13:36:46 UTC
Yesterday I was creating a label list starting from a .dbf database.
StarOffice 5.2 completed the work perfectly.
I also tried OpenOffice 1.0.1, but there were bugs. Occasionally, half of the label page was filled with the same record (i.e.: the label was repeated multiple times, while the original database contained no duplications), and other records were skipped...
Since I had to use a field connected to a ZIP code, and some ZIP codes were empty, is it possible that reading a '0' in those fields causes a bug in OpenOffice when filling the next labels? This is the only idea which came to my mind... Unfortunately I cannot send you the .dbf file, because it contains about 2000 records of personal data, but I can tell you that it's only things like "#, LASTNAME, FIRSTNAME, ADDRESS, ZIP, TOWN, PLACE, PHONE, PROBLEMS", and "#, ZIP" are numbers while the rest is text...

Thanks :)

Is it possible for you to upload a sample database that causes the
same issue but without pesonal data? Also, step-by-step instructions
are also useful in helping us to reproduce your issue.

well, this is a simple "anonymous" database which caused another bug, indeed: a crash!
which is: the first time I tried to print it crashed, while reloading OpenCalc and redoing the job produced the wrong result attached as temp.ps

I created labels (File > New > Labels) with this fields taken from the database:

N
LASTNAME FIRSTNAME
ADDRESS
ZIP TOWN

and the margins are (I tell the numbers in cm as they appear in the dialog):
10.50
3.75
10.50
3.75
0
0

and: columns=2, rows=8

(I didn't consider the fact that numbers and zip codes have the ".00" suffix, this is probably adjustable with some options but I didn't have time to check, anyway it's not important now :)

thanks :)

Hi zanonmark,

thanks for using and supporting OpenOffice...

I tried to create labels with yor submitted database...
I wasn't able to reproduce the crash or the multiple labels with the
same content...

Please try again with the newest version and send a new comment if the
problem occurs again...
