Currently there is, as far as I know, only one direct way to insert a field from
the Data Sources bar, drag and drop (for columns, not for a cell content;
<colName> will be inserted then). 

I suggest to offer at least three alternative ways:
* Inserting the column field via an icon
* Inserting the column via the context menu on the column 
* Inserting the column with a combination of Shift or Ctrl and a mouse button.
