Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 92454
Print Monitor provides no user usable information during mail merge
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:17:47 UTC
The "Print Monitor" displays no useful information during a mail merge where the merge is being saved to a single file. The following is what is displayed: "svhil" (this changes each time but has no meaning to the user "is being printed on" "Listing 30" (have no idea what this means) "Letter 3" (this is not the name of the master merge document or database) In addition, the "Print Monitor" window does not update any information or show that any progress is being made. The user does not know if the computer is frozen or if something is actually happening. This did not start in 3.0 Beta2. It has probably been around for a while, but is the same in 2.4.1.
MRU->OS: when saving a FormLetter into a ingle file, the Print Monitor should display the correct target filename and not the name of the temporary sv... file. Also, "is being printed on PrintJob0" should be replaced by something like "is currently saved".
I would also like to suggest that some type of activity indicator be placed on this Print Monitor window during a merge so that the user will know that something is actually happening. I would suggest a counter that increments for each new record processed.
I have the same issue when printing envelopes. It doesn't print even though my printer is selected in the settings page. After, "insert" "envelope". This just started happening after I updated OO about 2 weeks ago.
