Description andrewsmith 2002-11-12 04:38:29 UTC
I placed a greyscale image in to a blank page in Writer and saved the document
to both .doc and .sxw formats. To my surprise the .doc file was 470k while the
native .sxw file was the full 3Mb that the image was.

I opened the file in WinZip to take a look inside and see what was bloating it,
and found that the TIFF image had not been compressed at all in the .sxw file.

I then WinZipped the .sxw file to confirm that the file would/should compress
down to the approximately same size as the .doc file.

I can send sample files to illustrate this if it is of any use. (Just can't
see how to attach them at the moment) Will attach them if I can.

Keep up the great work!

Andrew

AW->AMA: Please have a look, SW is using it's own bitmap graphic objects.
