While running the installation I received a MS window saying the installation 
had experienced a problem and had to close.  I then tried to install again and 
an OpenOffice window pops up saying it's already installed and that I should 
use the "local setup program to uninstall".  I don't know what the local setup 
program is.  I try deinstalling via MS control panel add/remove programs and 
first I got an same error saying it was looking for setup.inf.  When I moved 
setup.inf to the expected location and tried again to uninstall, I get the same 
error saying OpenOffice is already installed.  What do I do next?

- Remove OOo 1.0.1 folder
- Search for sversion.ini (it's in application data folder of your
user account).
- Open sversion.ini in editor and remove the OpenOffice line.
- Retry to install OOo
- Good luck

does this problem still exist in “OOo 1.0.3” or even better “1.1RC”?

If it does, please tell us!

If I will not see any further action as votes, attachments or
confirmations in this issue, I will have to close this issue

Please try using the latest OOo 1.1 Rc4, 
Your version already old enough, and many bug fixes since your version 
and 1.1 RC4. If the problem still happend in 1.1 RC4 please report back 
and Feel free to reopen it again.
