Description sophia 2002-11-06 15:13:20 UTC
I got a crash
while using OpenOffice Writer
with PostgreSQL 7.2.2 through unixODBC 2.2.2.

I don't know if this is important,
but in a previous session
of Open Office,
I changed the memory usage preferences
(graphical mem :
   for OpenOffice 16MB
   for each object 4MB
 cache memory for inserted objects:
   32 objects).

What I made in the faulty session:
1/ open OpenOffice Writer (nice == -9)
2/ open a Microsoft Word 97 document
3/ convert it to the OpenOffice Writer 1.0 format
4/ display the database sources
5/ visualize some tables
6/ open the table editor for a new table I wanted to create
(right click on the table node of the data sources explorer)

I didn't had the time
to see the table editor
since OpenOffice crashed
with the following error message on the console:
'Application Error'

My database was not crashed.
The following log was registered:
DEBUG: database system was shut down at 2002-11-06 15:24:29 CET
DEBUG: checkpoint record is at 0/391220
DEBUG: redo record is at 0/391220; undo record is at 0/0; shutdown TRUE
DEBUG: next transaction id: 2227; next oid: 16660
DEBUG: database system is ready
DEBUG: pq_recvbuf: unexpected EOF on client connection

I didn't achieved to reproduce this bug.

Sophia, thanks for this extensive report.

If I got this right, then in general, you _are_ able to open the table
editor (because you describe a crash after saving the table in issue
8971), but when preceded by the steps you describe here, opening the
editor crashes? Right? (Sorry for asking back, just want to be sure :)

Does the bug depend on step 5? Does it depend on the concrete document
in 2 (or does it perhaps happen with a simple empty W97 document, too)?
Comment 2 sophia 2002-11-06 16:57:12 UTC
Yes, the difference with the other bug is
that I didn't achieved
to open the editor for a new table
(crashed just after clicking on the opening command)
and that I can't reproduce this bug.

Because I can't reproduce it
with the sames conditions (steps, same document),
I can't determine which parameter interfers.

For this bug, I was really using Writer.
In the other bug, Writer was just a way
to access the database.

I forgot to say
(because I'm not sure of the message)
that a dialog box catched the crash
and said my working documents
would be recovered
when restarting Writer.

Ocke, can you please have a look at this? Maybe it's similar to issue
8971 which you fixed? Thanks.
