Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 8966
Terminate on open after I/O error
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:56:16 UTC
Trying to open a text document from a bad floppy results in the following error message: "Es ist ein nicht behhebbarer Fehler aufgetreten. Alle modifizierten Dateien wurden jedoch gesichert und können voraussichtlich beim nächsten Programmstart wiederhergestellt werden." (An uncorrectable error has occured. All modified files have been saved and will be restored the next time the program is started - not sure if that's the exact translation used in the English version) OpenOffice then shuts down completely. The floppy was definitely bad (CLI tools verify that). The problem is that _all_ OpenOffice processes are closed, even completely unrelated ones.
Thank you for using and supporting OOo. Crashing is never a good thing, but OOo behaved as expected here from what I know. OOo uses a common runtime that all the apps launch from ( text, spreadsheet, impress, etc ).
As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved <wontfix/duplicate/worksforme/invalid> issues. Please see this posting for details. First step in IssueZilla is unfortunately to set them to verified.
