Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 8648
anchors: any filled in space is forgotten when document re-opened
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:26:05 UTC
this is a continuation of issue 8609 (http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=8609). use the attachment posted there and run through BUG ONE and then continue here: ===== BUG TWO: any filled-in space is forgotten when document re-opened step 2: now, with your mouse, left-click on the graphic frame appearing at top of page 2. graphic frame is now selected and anchor point also appears at top of paragraph 6 on page 1. IMPORTANT: make sure you can see paragraphs 5 and 6 both in your window. now with your mouse, drag the anchor-point icon to paragraph 5 (one paragraph earlier). now notice that OOo *does* fill in the blank space at end of page 1 with subsequent paragraphs 6, 7, and 8, even though the graphic still appears at top of page 2. this is EXACTLY the behavior i am intending. unfortunately, :( :( it is only fleeting: step 3: save document. close and reopen document. notice that paragraphs 6, 7, and 8 have now moved back down to page two. OOo forgot the fill-in that it did before saving. :( the blank space has returned. :(
next bug in series (BUG THREE) is at issue 8649 (http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=8649)
Hello Jeff. Thanks for all the work. Okay, I followed your instructions and yes, after saving the wrapping did not stay the way it initially appeared. However, if I change the anchor point of the graphics to "To Character" the "fill" issue you refer to does not appear. Running Win NT 4.0 SP6a, OOo 643.
thanks for responding, stefan, well, that's odd. it does continue to be a problem for me, regardless of whether i'm using anchor-to-paragraph or anchor-to-character. although, again, you have to close and re-open to see that it has blanked out the space (perhaps, given andreas' comments in http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=8609 , this is a bug in reverse? if what is really intented is for there to be a blank [which i don't like, but that's the way it's apparently "intended"] then what you see when you save should be what you see when you open back up, should it not?) are you sure you have your (char) anchor set to middle of para. 6? and not 7 or 8?
Jeff thanks for the update. This issue is probably related to issue 8609 *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 8609 ***
As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved duplicate issues. Please see this posting for details. First step in IssueZilla is unfortunately to set them to verified.

OD (15.08.2003): re-open task, because it isn't a duplicate of #8609# - it's a follow-up of it. Originally #8609# contains the description of four defect, but it was ask to separate them. Thus, this task is submitted.
OD (15.08.2003): - change priority from P3 to P4, because a workaround exists (save/load or force formatting by edit text to the involved paragraphs. - set appropriate target to next version, hopefully it's time to address it for this version. - take over ownership
OD (15.08.2003): accepted.
