Description lsavidge 2008-02-12 18:16:23 UTC
On my theme in Linux I have a gradient fill black menu bar which means that when
I open most applications under Linux I get the menus with black text on a black
background which makes it rather difficult to read the menus.

What Linux distribution?
What theme?
What settings within that theme?
What do non-OpenOffice.org applications look like?
Please comment, thank you.

Ubuntu 7.10
Ubuntu Chrome
No visual effects. Based on the Elegance them with Clearlooks border, gnome
icons and standard pointers
Every application is fine except all OpenOffice applications and Kompozer.
Firefox used to be a problem until I altered the colours of the menu text
manually by editing one of the config files.

Most GTK themes with dark menu backgrounds make openoffice look bad (for some
reason, Firefox has the same problem) because the menu text stays black no
matter what.

Native GTK apps like Abiword and Gnumeric are obviously not affected.

This can easily be seen with the "New wave" theme in Ubuntu 9.04, but not the
"New wave Dark Menus" theme or "DarkRoom".

I forgot to mention that this is on OOo 3.0.1, gnome 2.26, Ubuntu 9.04, etc.
