The attached StarOffice file causes OpenOffice to hang while opening it. On my
machine the document appears but then the UI freezes and the program consumes
the CPU for a long time.

Robin, thanks for using and supporting OOo.

Which version of SO was the file created in.

Unable to duplicate on Win NT 4.0 SP6a, OOo 643.

File loads fine for me.

I don't know what version it was created with.

Is there any way I can find out where it's hanging in the code?

Unable to duplicate on RH 8.0, OOo 643.

Duplicated on RH 8.0, RH OOo 1.0.1.

Robin, if possible, test this file with developer build 643.



Robin, you can always break out the ddd debugger and trace the code 
until OOo crashes.

If you don't want to get that detailed, try trimming down the file 
until it's about a page or less so that you figure out what exactly 
is causing OOo to hang while loading the doc.  

Also, when OOo hangs, you may want to try waiting for a while ( 5 - 
10 minutes ).  I have worked on cases where the load time for files 
is long enough to convince end users that OOo has hung.
