Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 84920
Khmer Unicode Typing Crash OOo 2.3
Last modified: 2009-04-24 08:40:24 UTC
Recently upgraded to OOo 2.3 and now have Open Office freeze when I type in Khmer Unicode using Writer or Impress. The fonts render properly and the file can be saved as normal until I reach the end of a line. Upon reaching the end of a line, the program freezes and I have to resort to a "force quit". Similar problems arise with Calc (though I can't figure out exactly when the freezing is triggered in Calc). The freezing also occurs when editing Khmer Unicode documents that were written with openoffice 2.1 and 2.2. I have typed in Khmer Unicode in Open Office 2.1 and 2.2 (using linux and windows) in the past with no problems. There are no problems whatsoever when I type in English. There are no problems whatsoever when I type Khmer Unicode in my non-openoffice text editor using the same computer (Toshiba M45, Pentium M Processor 740, 1.73 GHz, 2MB L2, 533MHz FSB with 512MB DDR2 SDRAM) with the same OS (Ubuntu 7.10). I have heard, but not personally tested, that the same problem occurs with OOo2.3 running on Windows XP. In "About Openoffice.org" I have the following: OpenOffice.org 2.3.0 Copyright 2000-2007 Sun Microsystems Inc. This product has been created by Debian and Ubuntu based on OpenOffice.org. OpenOffice.org acknowledges all community members, especially those mentioned at http://www.openoffice.org/welcome/credits.html openoffice.org-core 1:2.3.0-1ubuntu5.3. Tue November 27 18:52 GMT 2007.
Yes, the defected existed in 2.3. It is most probably a localization issue. The localization has been corrected, and will be tested in m241, but 2.3 Khmer is unusable. This is probably a duplicate of issue 80249.
break-iterator indeed sounds like the cause of this one → closing duplicate. If this problem still occurs with a current version, feel free to reopen the issue. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 80249 ***
closing dupe. If that was wrong, and you can still reproduce in a current version, feel free to reopen the issue.
