I should be able to select a row or a column and be able to set a graphic
background for all the cells in the row or column.

You just need to place the cursor in that row, open Table.Properties.Background
and select "Row" in the upper right Combo box. Is this you were looking for?

No that puts the graphic background in the whole row. I would like to be able to
set a graphic in a cell, but I want the same graphic background for each cell in
the row. Steps:

1) Select row/column
2) Right-Click mouse to bring up context menu and select Table...
3) Select Background tab

At this point I am unable to select a graphic and put it in a cell so it will
set each cell with the same background.

In the process of testing this I tried to set a color for a whole row and set
the type to cell and it would not set the cell background color also. However
after I did this I was then able to do the above steps and set the background
graphic for the whole row. So this may be a bug not an Enhancement since I was
actually able to do it after trying to set the color for each cell.

I don't exactly understand your desire...
In my opinion, this is offered on the "background" tab. Just select the cells of
the table, you want to assign a graphic, go to the "background" tab in the table
properties, upper left select "Graphic" from dropdown, upper right select "cell"
from dropdown, choose path to graphic, click "position" option, click OK. Is
this the solution?

Following the steps that I described in my previous post I was not allowed to
select graphic (or color for that matter) from the drop down list. In fact the
drop down list did not appear when I went to the background tab after I selected
a column.

Ok, Some more information after messing with it a little bit. It seems that if
you have a graphic in one of the cells already the (color, graphic) drop down
box does not appear.

You should be able to select a row and replace the cell background with whatever
you select. Since the functionality is there to set the background of each cell
in a column/row when there is no graphic set for any cell in the row/column I am
changing this to a defect. It should allow you to set the background for any
cell that has been selected even if a background has already been selected.

Now I finally understood the problem. It is about a selection of table cells
which have different background types.

MRU->OS: When there is a cell in a table which has a background graphic and the
neighbor cell does not, select the row containing these cells. Now it is not
possible in the table properties dialog to select a "new" graphical background
for the selection.
