Description Unknown 2002-10-15 10:49:35 UTC
This problem happened by writing a bigger document. By starting the document everything worked
fine by inserting OLE objects. There is no problem by writing text and everything else. But at once
by inserting another OLE object (OOo drawing) OpenOffice crashed. This happens every time by
doing it (in the bigger document). But it is possible to copy and paste another OLE object in the
document. (It only crashed by "inserting" a new one). I tested this behavior on Windows
98/2000/XP and OpenOffice 1.0.1 (german version).

Ronny, thank you for using and supporting OOo.

Could you attach the drawing file we need to insert in order to crash
OOo?

Unable to duplicate on Win NT 4.0 SP6a, OOo 643.
Unable to duplicate on RH 8.0, RH OOo 1.0.1.

The Problem ist not to insert an existing drawing file, but inserting a new drawing
object crashes OOo. You can test it by taking the OLE_Test.sxw and than insert a new OLE-
Object(drawing). There where other people who tested it also and got the same
mistake. Maybe it works on WinNT or on the english version of OOo.

I was able to see this failure on win98se running OOo 1.0.2. Steps to
achieve failure: Open attached file OLE_Test.sxw. From Insert menu,
select Object, OLE Object, check Create New, Select OOo 1.0.2 Drawing.
Insert begins, but does not finish. An error box pops up: OOo
1.0.2, "An unrecoverable error has occurred. All modified files have
been saved and can probably be recovered at program restart." Click
OK. OOo closes, then reopens. It asks you if you want to try to
recover the file test file. A second quickstarter icon appears in the
bottom right of the screen. When the mouse is waved over the two
quickstarter icons, one disappears. Failure is repeatable. I run the
English version of OOo.

Yes, I could also see the problem.
But it is fixed in already available OO 643C and in the soon upcoming
OpenOffice 1.1 Beta.

Closed, because already fixed.
