Description Unknown 2002-10-12 13:27:12 UTC
Final section of installation how-to & guide could be expanded.
After doing the initial installation as Administrator, you then want to make
this available to other users sharing the PC. Under XP I had problems, and
solved them thus:
1. Do initial install as documented.
2. Create all users and give them Administrator rights.
3. Login as each user in turn.
4. Run the OpenOffice user setup program. By default this will be in the
Program Files/OpenOffice folder.
5. DO NOT accept the default install directory. Instead, install to each user's
personal area. This avoids multiple installs overwriting.
6. Remove Administrator rights from users, then log back in and test.

Frank, Is this dealing with the Setup Guides?
Comment 2 frank.thomas.peters 2002-11-28 16:59:47 UTC
FPE: This procedure sounds to awkward to me to describe.
What is the problem if installing as described in the guide?
Comment 3 frank.thomas.peters 2003-03-05 12:48:25 UTC
This is resolved by the new installation procedure.
According to QA, the workstation installation
will no longer need admin rights.

Please test in 1.1Beta and close if fixed.

Marking as FIXED on trust as I won't have another XP PC to test on
for some time. I presume one of you has tested this so it should work.

Hi Bill, yes it works. I close this task now.
