Description vlaaad 2007-09-17 12:39:29 UTC
Hello,

I just got OpenOffice 2.3 (the tag 2.3 was not yet available in the version
list) and hopelessly, video support no longer works. I had no troubles with 2.2,
all went fine, even if JMF is not really obvious to setup.
I checked the CLASSPATH in the Tools->Options->General->Java, and it still
includes the /opt/java/JMF-2.1.1e/lib/*.jar

Did something changed ? I read something in the release notes about changes with
CLASSPATH handling, maybe this is related ? The Ooo package I used has been
built by the Arch Linux devs. But I don't think this may be a built issue, right ?

I can of course provide more informations if needed.
Comment 1 schuetzm 2007-09-17 14:06:57 UTC
I can confirm that: JMF used to work in 2.2.1, but doesn't any more in 2.3.
Comment 2 schuetzm 2007-09-17 14:10:25 UTC
Note that this affects all components, not only Impress/Presentation.
Comment 3 wolframgarten 2007-09-28 09:46:34 UTC
Sorry, not reproducible here. I have running videos with version 2.3.0 in format
.avi and .mov.
Comment 4 hennerdrewes 2007-10-01 08:44:14 UTC
I have noticed the same thing with OOo 2.3 on Windows Vista.

I have a presentation prepared in OOo 2.2, which heavily uses embedded Flash
(swf) movies via plugin, one .wmv and several .mov files. None of them is
playing in presentation mode.
Comment 5 wolframgarten 2007-10-12 12:36:07 UTC
It would be helpful if anyone could attach a file with a video that worked with
2.2 but does not work with 2.3.0. Thanks.
Comment 6 vlaaad 2007-10-13 13:35:17 UTC
Actually none video works, I don't think this is a question of compatibility.
All the videos I use works with jmstudio so they are supposed to work with
OpenOffice, right ?

Maybe this is just a problem of setup ? Can you confirm that the setup I use
(see first post) is ok ?

I can of course post a video if you really want but I'm not sure it would give
any clue.

I attached sample file "flash.odp". A video worked with 2.2 but does not work
with 2.3.0.
Comment 9 hennerdrewes 2007-11-01 08:28:29 UTC
The previous sample is not working, as the flash movie is linked, and was not
supplied with the odp file.

I am attaching another similar sample, and with it, the linked flash movie.
Please place both files into the same directory for testing.

In OOo 2.2.1 you should see the flash movie in presentation mode, in 2.3 it is
not working.

I posted a patch to solve the problem concerning the showing of flash plugins to
issue no 78537.

I close the issue as duplicate.
Comment 17 schuetzm 2008-02-13 13:57:08 UTC
Please reopen this issue; it is _not_ a duplicate of 49989, which is about
Netscape Plugins not working correctly anymore.

This issue is about JMF (the comments by hennerdrewes and kamataki are misplaced
here).
Comment 18 christian.guenther 2008-02-13 15:30:13 UTC
the title of issue 49989 is

- Embedded flash doesn't work

therefore it is a flash bug and not a general plugin bug.
The bugdocs of your issue and of issue 49989 contains documents with flash plugins.
In my mind both issues describes the same bug.
Comment 19 schuetzm 2008-02-13 16:00:35 UTC
The first comment clearly shows that the original reporter is talking about
videos played with the JMF. Flash videos however are played via the Netscape
plugin framework (see also the first comment in the other bug report: "...
insert a flash animation in a slideshow (Insert > Plugin)").

As I said, the other comments are misplaced here and should probably be moved to
issue #49357 "Plugin objects & applets don't play in Slide Show mode".
Comment 20 christian.guenther 2008-02-13 17:21:54 UTC
You are right.
I reopen the issue.
Comment 21 vlaaad 2008-02-18 15:01:59 UTC
Hi,

I finally found my issue few weeks ago ! Actually the videos were located in a
path containing accents (I'm french...). After renaming the faulty directory,
the video played !
And I was also happily surprised to see that JMF is no longer needed... :)
