Description bryancole 2007-08-22 22:57:50 UTC
When cut 'n pasting between OOo applications, there are various options in the
Past Special menu. When pasting graphics from Draw to Writer (or
Impress-to-writer), the default paste method is "paste as drawing objects". This
is a poor default, since pasting in this way results in a figure which cannot be
scaled (because scaling doesn't change the line widths or fonts in proportion).
To get nice scaling behaviour, you must paste as GDI-metafile (not editable) or
OLE-object. I useful enhancement would be a configuration option to set the
default paste-method for each type of document/object. Thus, I could avoid
always having to use the paste-special menu and could just <ctrl>-V directly.

With text, it is the exception that you want to paste with the source
formatting, not the rule in my experience. So this would be good. Of course, you
could add themes like MS Office 2007.

With graphics, I think this is more varied so user choice is particularly
important. Personally I paste a lot from Visio and due to OO.org's very poor
handling of GDI, I have to do second-best paste as image.
