Chinese charactor will be garbage when saved as MS95 form.
Chinese charactor will be garbage when saved as MS95 format.
Problem is, that the Word 6 / 95 format does not support unicode. Currently, we have not implemented the recognition of codepages in the Word 6 filter. Henning, please keep this issue, until this once may be implemented.
Hello redflagzhulihua, *, could you provide us with a step-by-step description or an example document? Neither your description nor your summary do provide enough information to us QAer and the developers here. And please be so kind to answer my question :) Have fun Thomas.
Hi Thomas, Open a document contain Chinese characters, and Save it as MS95 format. Open the Doc file with OpenOffice. The Chinese characters are not show correctly. I'll upload attachments. regards, Lihua
Created attachment 64056 [details] original file
Created attachment 64057 [details] Save as MS95 format.
But I really doubt that there is someone still use MS95 nowadays.
Hello redflagzhulihua, for some reason I cannot download your original ODT file ... :( Wget downloads it as "345%8C%97京\345\270%82\345%9F\272\346%9C\254\345%8C\273\347%96%97\344 \277%9D\351%99\251A类\345\256%9A\347%82\271\345%8C\273\347%96%97\346%9C\272\346 %9E%84\345%90%8D\345%8D%95.odt" (which I cannot open nor remove from my HD) and if I click on the link above, it opens a new website with no content ... :( Would you be so kind to rename it in something with Latin characters and attach it again, please? If I open your *doc file, it only contains a numbering with question marks (which I think, were Chinese characters, or am I wrong?) ... :( Have fun Thomas.
Created attachment 66874 [details] odt file
Created attachment 66875 [details] saved as MS95 format
Hi Thomas, I've renamed the files and uploaded them again. Sorry for the inconvenience caused. If you feel it's not worth fixing this issue, for there is few people using MS95 nowadays, please feel free to close it. Thanks, Lihua
And, You are right, Chinese characters become question marks after the odt file save as MS95 format.
Hello Lihua, *, I am not sure, if this issue should be closed only, because nearly no one will use Win95 (IMHO they should be shot immediately, but this is another story ... ;) ), but I can confirm the export problem with your attached "list.odt", using the Germanophone version of OOO320m17 under Debian SID AMD64 ... :( Due to TM OOoLater, I think it will get lost here ... :( As I can confirm this under Debian SID AMD64 as well, I switched OS to "all" ... ;) HTH Thomas.
