Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 80757
Base Crashes using the Table Wizard
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:45:17 UTC
Go from "File">"New">"Database" - the database Wizard launches > "Create A New Database" >"Next" > "Register the Database" selected, "Open the database for editing" selected, "Create tables using the table wizard" selected. The database begins to launch and then crashes. This happens intermittently, but frequently. I believe it has to do with the Tables Wizard because alternatively, if I do not select "Create tables using the table wizard" when creating the database, but then after creating the database and go to "Tasks" > "Use Wizard to create tables" the database crashes. That occurs every time. I'm running version 2.2 through X11, on Mac OS 10.4.10, on a G5 w/ Dual 2GHz PPCs, with 2.5GB of RAM.

I have the same issue. Mac OS X 10.4.10, 1.25 GHz G4, 1.25 GB RAM. I upgraded from oo v.2.2. Problem persists in v.2.3 (X11) as well. The only difference I have with the report from tao240 is that the table wizard freezes openoffice EVERY time I try to use it. I have to force quit oo, then log out of my user account and back in before I can reopen oo.

This is a Mac/PPC only bug and IMO fixed in aquavlc08 which is integrated in Beta2 of version 3.0 Please test it with the versions named above add steinsuppe and me to cc set duplicate of 88987 because there is the fix discussed *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 88987 ***
Just reinstalled OpenOffice 2.40 on the same machine as I originally had this issue with - Dual 2GHz PPC G5 with 2.5 GB of RAM now running 10.4.11 OO launches fine initially, but there is still an issue with the Base Table Wizard not functioning - the window opens but I cannot interact with it. After closing (actually force quitting both OO and X11) OO will not relaunch - checking Activity Monitor see soffice.bin running 16+ threads eating up 96% of the cpu. I guess I couldn't call this issue resolved - at least for PPC because I can't get Base to run at all.
As I said the fix is in the Beta2 version of OpenOffice.org 3.0 This is an PPC only bug a prob *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 88987 ***
