Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 80612
picture gets corrupted
Last modified: 2007-09-28 10:16:04 UTC
I inserted a jpeg picture into Open Office Draw layer, saved and closed the file, and on re-opening the file, the picture got corrupted.

Can you attach the jpeg-picture itself, please?
Please note that the 2 jpg-images are broken. Although the file: 1000000000000330000005EC387EE0DB.jpg has 253 KB, starting with byte 0xFC00, the file is empty (just 0's). That is, just one third of the image was saved. Probably the same is true for the second image. Either when you saved the images, they became corrupted, or when the ODG document was saved, it became corrupted (only parts of the jpg-files were saved, and not the entire file, due to disk error, other computer error, or even OOo error). discoleo -> developers There is a peculiar behaviour in Draw, as I was not able to access the images within Draw. Is there a problem in Draw, that prevents accessing broken images? discoleo -> tangys Still, the best thing you can do, is to attach one of the original images. If this was a hardware error (HD or computer failure), than OOo can't do anything. What is interesting is the fact that the thumbnail is OK, so OOo Draw likely tried to save the correct file, BUT somehow the images got broken on the disk. [Still curious that the zip-compression is error FREE!]

I attached the original jpeg files, which are in good condition, as suggested. I don't feel this is an intermittent failure, like how it happens sometimes with hardware failures. This happened to me 2 times in a row.
I cannot reproduce the error. Please try, if it still fails for you in the newest version of OOo; 2.0.4 is rather old.
I don't know what do you mean with corrupted. I see that the bugdoc some graphics which seems to be vanished. in this Draw-document are 3 additional Layers. the graphics are on 2 of this layers - 'Photo' and 'Model'. this layers are invisible. To see the graphic you have to change the layer to visible. If you mean another defect of the graphic please write me what yo mean exactly.
