Description Unknown 2002-10-03 22:51:19 UTC
Installed apparently successfully with setup -net as root. Installed
successfully as a user with setup. When the soffice program is run, the splash
screen appears and then a dialog box with the following message pops out:

An unrecoverable error has ocurred.
All modified files have been saved and can probably be recovered at program restart.

This behavior is alwayws reproducible no matter whether I try to start
OpenOffice as a regular user or root.

My machine is an IBM ThinkPad A30p, 512MB RAM, with an ATI Mobility Radeon
graphics card.

OpenOffice used to work on this same machine with RH 7.3

I have same problem with OpenOffice setup as only user (no setup -
net). This is not related to the machine since I'm running a desktop
clone Pentium III 1.2GHz, 256M RAM, ATI CyberBlade Video. I also ran
same system with RH7.3 and OO 1.0.1

I had this same issue and noticed the following in the setup.log in my
home directory:

error: RegistryItemAction::Execute() called

I tracked this to Issue 6513 and renamed libdb-3.2.so in the the
programs directory as hinted at in the discussion. This worked.
Comment 3 Unknown 2002-11-24 17:49:15 UTC
To be precise, go to your OpenOffice.org program directory, and type

   mv libdb-3.2.so libdb-3.2.so.save

I have introduced issue 11220. I am not sure if the problem is the
same one discussed in 8055.
Comment 5 stx123 2003-02-17 09:37:49 UTC
moving to component installation and Reassign issue to owner of
selected subcomponent
Comment 6 Unknown 2003-02-17 09:47:30 UTC
The problem seems to have dissapeared from my machine. I regularly
apply upgrades from Red Hat, so perhaps there was a conflict with some
library.
