Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 8036
Printing can disable other major features
Last modified: 2003-11-10 04:48:40 UTC
Many users in my office are reporting that sometimes following printing, open office 1.0.1 will disable the print icon and the menu item. Additionally trying to save, print preview or close the document results in the following error message. The document cannot be closed because a print job is being carried out. The only way to close Open Office is to use task manager to forcibly shut it down. I have been told that it can be caused by saving the document quickly after pressing starting a print job, but that is not the sole cause. I have tried to reproduce the problem myself, but have been unable to. However it is being experienced by multiple users on multiple machines. The printer being used is a Xerox Docucenter, the print share is managed by a Windows 2000 SP2 Server. Apparently the problem occurs most frequently in Calc.
pl->ssa: this maybe something for mba ?

I will try to reproduce.
ssa->hi: again, please try to reproduce in-house. i couldn't reproduce it.
We had similiar problems that the office can not be closed or you can not work further while printing. The print managemend is changed since 644n so this problem shouldn't occur in OO1.1_Beta.
Fixed.
I'm seeing this problem on 1.1 final - should we re-open this issue or create a new one? Occurs less frequently but symptoms are identical - on attempting close receive message 'The document cannot be closed because a print job is being carried out.'
