Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 8020
OOo crashes with this doc
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:43:23 UTC
When I opened the document from http://alpha400.ee.unsw.edu.au/elec3006/lecturenotes/Section3c.doc and scrolled to the second page with scrollbar, OOo started to save it and then collapsed with "Abort" on the console. I do not know if it is a problem of Solaris port or whole OOo.
I just opened the document in OOo 1.0.1 on Windows 2000. No problems detected. On page 2 there is a picture and two equations (Microsoft Equation Editor OLE objects).
cmc->Sajer: Can you repeat the load test with tools->options->load/save->ms office-> and toggle mathtype->starmath conversion for embedded objects. This default changed between versions and might potentially have a bearing.
Switching LOAD MATH conversion off helped, however now I see Vo "box" "box" Vm instead of Vo = +Vm. All non-letter chars are not displayed properly ( =, +, beta etc.) - replaced by boxes.
Win NT 4.0 SP6a, OOo 643. With Word to OOo Math conversion off: The equations appear but all non-letter characters are missing ( brackets, equal signs, etc ) With Word to OOo Math conversion on: The equations appear properly and all non-letter characters are present. On page 10, there is a defect with the bracket placement in the third equation from the top.
Reassigned to Michael.
Problem with equal signs and so on not appearing (or wrong) when Math conversion turned off is fixed for OpenOffice 1.1 Beta. Was a problem with the import of the metafile preview of the object.
I cannot see any problems with the bracket placement on page 10. The only equation on page 10 I could found with obvious bracket placement is not an equation object. The error in the equation was also present when loading the doc in Word. Note: not all formulas in this document are Ms Equation objects. They are also of unknown origin for MS Word.
Was not able to reproduce a crash with this file in OpenOffice 1.0.0 or newer on Solaris System. Other issues are fixed meanwhile.
