Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 8016
Openoffice crashes whenever autocorrect is initiated
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:56:16 UTC
After typing one word, then hitting the space bar, OOo crashes, saying it has saved the document (which it does); if I type nothing and click on the Autocorrect menu item, OOo crashes in the same manner. This also happens in the spreadsheet and other subprojects; as it is not limited to just the word processor, perhaps delegation is warranted. For more detailed analysis, see: http://personal.nbnet.nb.ca/bmh/oo.backtrace.txt and, a 1.3M strace: http://personal.nbnet.nb.ca/bmh/oo.strace.txt This bug is on Debian/Unstable, and the above links represent excerpts from email on this topic. I have had this problem for a significant period of time (8-12 months). Any help would be appreciated, and any information that you believe may be helpful is available upon request.
Brian, thanks for using and supporting OOo. How are you installing OOo? Are you using Debian packages or the binaries from this site? I've taken a look at your original install issue and it seems like there was a patch from Debian for OOo to resolve your issues.
This problem seems to have been related to my locale/I18N. I am unable to reproduce it after changing my locale. As it remains unconfirmed, I assume it was a localized instance, and am closing it. Regards ps. I have submitted other comments to this bug that have disappeared -- It's moot now, but FYI.
This task is fixed or worked in OOo 1.1 beta2.
