Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 79998
crash on deleting last bullet
Last modified: 2013-02-07 21:51:57 UTC
following steps are required to reproduce the problem 0) start openoffice 1) menu->file->new->presentation 2) on the presentation wizard dialog box click on "create" 3) select "title, Text" layout for the current slide 4) click on the text box in the slide and enter "TextEdit" mode 5) press "enter" to insert a second bullet 6) with the cursor placed in front of the second bullet, attempt to delete that bullet by pressing "back space" Openoffice crashes. I have observed this behavior on multiple ubuntu systems. This behavior occurs every time consistently when an attempt to remove the last bullet is made using back space. This behavior does not occur if intermediate bullets are removed or when there is only on bullet on the text box. I have observed this behavior on OOo-dev 2.3 (from openoffice.org) "staroffice update 7 from sun.com". I did not observe this behavior on the native version of openoffice on ubuntu 7.04. -G
Acrash is a p2 not a p1
Found the same issue with OOo (2.2.0, and 2.2.1) in RH using Gnome with Assistive Technologies turned on. Disabling Gnome's assistive technologies and restarting the session (logoff and logon) solved the problem.
confirmed ...... Gnome with Assistive Technologies turned ON leads to crash of OO and Gnome with Assistive Technologies turned OFF does NOT lead to crash. I am fascinated as to how you figured this out. could you please elaborate. -G
A question to your point 6: how can you have the cursor in front of the bullet and then use backspace to delete it? I cannot get the cursor in front of the bullet. Did anyone send a crashreport that is generated when recovering? Thanks.
