It seems whenever I start OOO Swriter, it prints single sided by default.
I have to go to options to set it to duplex.
This is despite the fact that in printersettings this printer has been set to 
duplex. Swriter ignores this setting it seems.

Yes, spadmin remembers the duplex setting.
It is also correct in Swriter's "Printer Settings"

But "Print -> page setup"  reverts back to single page.

please try OO version 2.3.1 or latest dev build from 
http://download.openoffice.org/index.html.
If you still see the problem please provide screenshot of "Print -> page 
setup".

no response, assuming issue doesn't occur anymore, not reproducible here (but
not sure what is meant with Print → Page setup, so might not be doing the right
thing)

Feel free to reopen this issue after you added the requested information.
