Description drewjensen.inbox 2007-07-12 15:17:00 UTC
To reproduce.

Install 680m_220 under XP on a machine with multiple user accounts.

During install select to make the application to ALL users.

After the installation is complete, check that the Report Designer extension has
been installed. Note that it has been installed in the Users configuration, not
the shared configuration.

Now close OOo, including Quickstarter, in this user account.

Switch to a different user account on the machine.

Start OOo, and open a Base file.

Attempt to run Report Designer - the extension has not been installed.

2.3 target?

You need to install the extension as a shared extension.
See OpenOffice.org Help -> Extension Manager

From the OpenOffice.org Help:

To install a shared extension in text mode
1.Open a terminal or command shell.
2.Change to the StarOffice/program .
3.Enter the following command, using the path and file name of your extension:
unopkg add --shared path_filename.oxt

I set this issue now to WORKSFORME

Bye Marc

To clarify things:

is Report Designer an extension?

If so, what is inside reportdesign module at all?

If it is that extension, why it is not installed for all users?

and where is the extension? When I'm about to open report designer, I get dialog
"you need to install Sun Report Designer", I click on Download and that just
opens http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/ in my browser, and there's no
report designer on that website
