Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 7876
Software crashes while using 'backwards' option in 'Find' feature.
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:56:16 UTC
This bug was replicated on a Windows 2000 system. This occurs when we try to use the ‘Backwards’ Option in the ‘Find’ Feature. Whenever any word is being searched using the backwards option, the writer doesn’t highlight the particular word correctly. Also we noticed that if the word that we are searching for starts from the first column in any part of the document, the writer eventually crashes. The sequence of steps for replicating the bug are: a) Open the open office document and type in the word ‘Test’(for example) starting from the first column. b) Go to the ‘Find & Replace’ Option in the ‘Edit’ menu and select the ‘backwards’ option. c) Type in the word ‘Test’ in the ‘Search For’ Text Box and press the button ‘Find’. As we can see, the writer highlights incorrectly and if we continue to press ‘Find’ button, eventually the writer crashes and closes itself. This bug occurs whenever the word to be found is starting from the first column (irrespective of its position in the document and the document size) and results in the crash of the writer.
Raghunath, thanks for posting this issue. One problem per issue please. The highlight/selection problem is a duplicate of issue 2236. The find backward crash problem is a duplicate of issue 3502. Thank you for using and supporting OOo. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 3502 ***
As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved duplicate issues. Please see this posting for details. First step in IssueZilla is unfortunately to set them to verified.
