Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 78683
Editing mode in page review:multiple pages (2x2 pages)
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
My institute publishes many books to different themes in social science. To do this we are using newly OpenOfficeWriter instead of Microsoft Word (RTF) we used before. Some books have about 500 pages and before publishing these someone has to review the content and layout and has to edit text. For this work step we would like to use in OpenOffice Writer the mode "page review:multiple pages" and there by an example "2x2 pages". But in this mode there is no direct editing possible like we did it in Microsoft Word under "Zoom" and the menu item "2 pages". This editing possibility is very important for our book production.

A preview is a preview and will not be used for editing. Instead of this we plan to allow to have more than one page in the regular print layout. This is covered by issue 1598. I think that is what you know from the competition so that your RFE looks like a duplicate to me. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 1598 ***
Sorry, I have overlooked issue 1598. My requirement in issue 78683 is to have a possibility in OpenOfficeWriter like MS Word under "Zoom" menuitem "2 pages" to edit a document on more than 1 pages (preferring 2 pages). I want to emphasize the requirement (issue) as a matter of principle to edit an odt document on two pages. Sorry of my incorrect description in issue 78683. I agree with you in general that "a preview is a preview and will not be used for editing".
Thanks for the confirmation. Closing as duplicate.
