Description pagalmes.lists 2007-05-23 16:02:10 UTC
Under Word, users are provided a mail merge toolbar (cf screenshot). It would be
nice to create such a toolbar in OOo.

Please press F4 in writer.

The data sources are popping up and on top of that a mail merge toolbar is there.

If you open up a database, you can drag columns as fields in you document and
play with the toolbar.

Perhaps it's better to give all that mailmerge thing in OOo a big UI and code
overhaul to integrate the 2 or 3 methods to do a mail merge

@dalo:

The data source panel is nice, but it is not user friendly enought for mail
merge operations. Often, users working with mail merge are basic users. They are
quite disturb by the database concepts and get lost quickly. That's why I think
a specific tollbar or panel would be better.

PS: A tipical example is that users will drag fields from seveval database,
related to several calc files and will not understand why things do not work as
expected when merged.
