Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 77393
Mouse wheel does not scroll while editing cell
Last modified: 2007-06-15 13:10:57 UTC
When viewing a Calc spreadsheet one can scroll up and down with the mouse wheel. While editing a cell in Calc (both in the cell and in the formula bar), however, the mouse wheel is disabled (although in Excel it continues to work). One must revert to the scroll bars. For users accustomed to the Excel behavior this is more or less of problem. This function would be useful for example when referring to a cell that is not visible in the formula one is editing. This issue was mentioned in the mailing list once in 2003, but was never answered: http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?listName=users&msgNo=16438
Works fine with 2.2 on WinXP using Windows built-in mouse driver - open Calc, start typing text, scroll mouse down - spreadsheet scrolls. Please clarify.
Sorry, I thought I was clear. You have to be editing the cell for the mouse wheel not to work. That is, you have to have doubled-clicked in the cell or be in the formula bar. Also, the cell has to contain a formula, that is it must start with "=", like the person in the mailing list said in 2003.
The part about formula was missing. If you just double-click empty cell scrolling works just fine. So I am confirming your description.
