Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 76646
GPOS and contextual substitution (GSUB table) is not supported.
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:29:47 UTC
For some languages, combining diacritics must be used to compose the necessary glyphs. For this, some OTF/TTF fonts come with entries in the GPOS and GSUB tables to specify where exactly on the base glyph should be the diacritic attached. Fonts like Dejavu Sans and SIL Doulos support these needed features. Now the rendering engine needs to support this feature too to correctly render the base glyph and the diacritic(s). OpenOffice.org in Version 2.2.0 lacks this support, so the rendering will be ugly, because it merely centers the diacritics on top of the base glyph, but this does not always fit. To test this issue, please see the Test files for Amis, Paiwan and Tsou languages on http://i18n.debian.net/wiki/TaiwanAboriginalLanguages Open the text files in OO.o and view them with either the Dejavu Sans or the SIL Doulos font.
@ sba: Please have a look and proceed.
