Description saidlp 2007-03-25 10:00:56 UTC
The ONE feature I miss in OO and makes me stick to MS Word : the ability to
display (and edit) two pages of the document side by side.

Bonus :
Ideally, it would make the most of the screen (even and particularly on 16/9
screens, which are perfect to display 2 pages side by side). On small laptops
(12,1"), every centimeter counts. The ideal would be a kind of "two pages, text
width" option, to avoid wasting precious centimeters of white margins on each side.
(but a plain 2-pages display would already allow me to say goodbye to Word).

P.S: I got the advice to work on landscape A3 page with 2 columns for
editing but after giving it a try, it's not a solution (unable to use page break
in styles,...)

Indeed, the only way to view pages side - by side is in the print preview (read
only).

In Word the two or more pages are automatically shown if you zoom small enough.
Of course we can do better with smaller side by side margins and if the pages
are really small, grayed out, but big actual page numbers (based upon the page
styles and sections) marking the pages.
