Description aaime 2002-09-07 14:52:03 UTC
The text added in a shape should wordwrap if
unable to fit in a single line, as happens in
SmartDraw (try it, it's shareware) or Powerpoint
(when you enable it). Other software also modify
the side of the text only when all the shape is
full of text (that is, first the wordwrap, then
change the size)

The edit engine is no keyfeature for the Q. This issue is considered for later.

Any progress on this? This is a basic feature that Powepoint has had for ages (I
can't remember a version of Powerpoint that does not have this)...

If I understood it well this is possible by setting text property for the shape,
what you really wanted to make this setting default to a more reasonable way
without user having to set the property, right?

No, the issue is more that for the most common shapes, that is, square and
ellipse, the proper behaviour (flow words inside the shape, or something like
that, I have a italian UI) is simply not available, and there seem to be no
substitute for it.
I don't want the words to change to fill the shape, I just want them to word wrap.
I noticed now that among the shapes there is a rectangle and an ellipse that do
behave properly (never noticed this before), but the two on the toolbar do not,
this is very confusing.

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".
