Description Oliver Brinzing 2007-02-22 13:59:32 UTC
Hi,

i will suggest the following enhancements for the filepicker dialog:

- Deleting a file via contextmenu does not move it into a trash folder.
It should be possible, to configure oo (tools -> options -> load/save)
to move all files to a user\trash folder instead of deleting it immediately.
This can prevent the loss of data, cause most users think, that deleted files
  can be restored ...

- allow configuring some more buttons, where a user can change with one click
between user defined folders, for example allow to add more folders to the
  tools -> options -> openoffice.org -> path -> working directory or add
a second entry for this kind of paths ...

  button1: c:\documents\user (standard working dir)
  button2: d:\share\shared-folder
  button3: x:\server\shared ...

both enhancements will lead to a better customizable oo ...

brinzing,
basically you want OO native file-picker dialog to behave like WinXP one,
right?

Hi,

yes, but without any platform integration :-)

Hi,

maybe you have a look at SO 5.2 filepicker. It was possible to open a menu by
clicking on the working-dir button ... and it was possible to add bookmarks to
the list ...

Our users missing this feature ... :-)

> allow configuring some more buttons

workaround (undocumented feature):

>> you can add your own paths to the home-icon (top left),
>> which will then have an arrow.
>> Do this by adding the environmental variable "PathFavourites"
>> to your system.
>> Steps for Windows:
>> - This computer
>> - Advanced
>> - Environmental variables
>> - New ... Name "PathFavourites" ... value: the full paths separated by ";"
