Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 74566
Allow disabling of recalculation when opening
Last modified: 2015-03-05 09:16:28 UTC
When a spreadsheet is opened everything is recalculated, which can be time-consuming. If the sheet has no external links, or none that are automatically updated, this is not necessary, since the values are saved with the formulae in the file. Therefore: Provide an option for suppressing recalculation on open file.
Hi, sorry, but this isn't a good idea. If no re-calculation is made on loading, a simple hack in the content.xml would show the wrong result of a calculation and could therefore cause the loss of money, ... @mmp Matthias what's the opinion of UX here ? Frank
If there are security concerns about disabling calculation, how about at least allowing disabling of 'Adapt row height', which is usually most time-consuming step in calculation.
Alternatively, allow disabling of recalculation when a file is password protected, since xml hacking is then not possible.
I am no longer officially active in OOo. Please take over.
If disable adapt row height has no implications other than saving time this is a good idea.
