see attached image where it would be helpful.

and the chart can not be stretched: for a screen presentation it is sized to
fit in the viewable area.

but then the magnifying function will be helpfull.

Calc docs are not just for printing, but for electronic use ... (but you know I
suppose)

this magnifying function should also be possible to "insert"
statically into a drawing box, so one can have a magnfied part be
always shown there

best it would be if this magn. works on anything, for example on
bitmpas.

of course one can select which area to magnify.
Comment 6 lars 2002-09-16 00:19:49 UTC
just to be sure: this shall not be simple pixel resize but a real
resolution magnification, for example if the bitmap has been resized
to be a small thumbnails, one can have a choosable area of the
original bitmap be magified and be statically displayed in a draw box

ft,

please explain why this was turned down.

Personally, I find this highly useful to keep the graph manageable at higher
data point counts (some 1,000 points or so):
1) Individual data points can be clicked and inspected/manipulated. With that
many data points, it become difficult to select the right one.
2) Examining "suspicious" details of the graph (e.g. spikes, discontinuities) is
impossible without a magnification facility. Such an examination is important to
decide whether the suspicious feature is real, a display artifact, or something
that needs further scrutiny.

Sorry for bugging you that late, I overlooked adding myself to the CC list.

Regards,
Jo
