Description bobmarquezjr 2007-01-27 06:16:59 UTC
I have OO files remotely stored in a file server.

When ever I try to double-click the remote file (or right-click, "open with"
OpenOffice.org 2.1) the cursor momentarily turns to an hourglass then does
nothing after. It is supposed to launch the appropriate OO appl then load the
file, isn't it?

Things work when I copy the remote file to my local disk and redo the steps
enumerated above.

I know there is nothing wrong with the network or sharing settings because
things work the way they should when doing the same steps on a remote MS Word
document (ie, saves the edited document without any error then re-opened
reflecting the editions made).

I use OpenOffice.org 2.1 on a
PC running Windows XP Home Edition vers 2002 SP 2
with an Intel Core 2 CPU, 6300 @ 1.86 GHz with 1 GB RAM

The shared folder is in a PC (running Windows XP Home Edition vers 2002 SP 2,
on a 5 year old PC) shared through the Sharing tab of the folder's Properties
with users allowed to change files.

Is there a patch to resolve the issue? Or is there a setting somewhere that I
should be aware of? I am currently evaluating OO as an alternative to MS and,
so far, things have been working very well until I encountered this issue.

Hope you can help.

Thanks. Bob

bobmarquezjr,
do you have underscover in server's name? Please vote for

and close your issue as duplicate of 53184.

I am closing this issue as it is a duplicate of Issue # 53184.
Cause of the issue was an underscore ("_") in the name of the remote server.
Things worked when I removed the underscore (as a workaround) but I still think
the issue (covered by #53184) should be resolved.
Thanks, kpalagin. You've been very helpful.
