Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 73342
Resizing object group does no resize text inside
Last modified: 2008-11-08 16:32:02 UTC
Hi, I pasted (^V) an drawing from Draw to Writer. Text was too big. I assume it uses the formats from the destination document, but it should better use the formats from the original drawing. My drawing had several user formats.
dieterfauth, please provide both text and drawing documents. Thanks.
I am no able reproduce the problem. When I copy e.g. a rectangle having 28 pt or even 8pt text in it from Draw to Writer, the text in the oject will be the same sizein Writer. Please attach your Draw source and Writer destination document o this issue. Feel free to reopen issue when you have done so! Thanks for supporting us!
Hi, you can use the files I attached to 73343, since I wanted to work arround this other issue with the copy&paste mentod. Use any of the odg, copy and paste into the odt of that other report. PS: You were to fast for me :-)
I cannot reproduce the problem. The text in the objects is exactly the same as in Draw. 18 pt at the arrows, 20 pt in the circles. Don't be confused by the different zoom factor in both applications...
Closed,
Hi, perhaps I wrote it wrong, and by double checking I now understand what's wrong. If you paste, it looks good, but if you then scale it smaller (with the handle), then the text stays the same size, but the graphics shrinks. So the picture looks awfull. A new description could be: Text in pasted ODG drawing does not scale correctly. Sorry for not describing it correctly, but I am just like software as well :-)
This also happens in Draw/Impress when the objects are grouped. Is a problem in the drawing engine. Reassigned to Drawing component.
Sorry, but this behaviour is wanted. You have given a specific size to the text in the drawing and that will be kept. How should the text know that you want to resize it ? If you want to resize the text when scaling the graphic you have other opportunities: insert the drawing as an OLE. Resizing the OLE in select-mode (one click, green handles will show) should have the effect that you want to have. Or you can use "insert/paste special" and select GDI metafile. In that case the drawing is inserted as metafiel and you can scale the complete drawing, including the text and its size. Hope this helps, feel free to reopen if there are still problems. Thanks for your help.
