Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 72934
Opening Star Writer 5.0 document hangs
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:15:21 UTC
I have a document created using Star Writer back in 2001. When I try to open this document OpenOffice hangs. No new document window appears, and the filename does not appear in the window title. The application is unresponsive. It appears to be in a loop because CPU usage goes to 100% (virtually all user time) and stays there for at least 15 minutes. The document is only one or two pages and includes a drawing. For what it's worth, I have a sample of the call graph. (Taken with the Mac OS X application Activity Monitor. It's at http://www.redclock.net/tmp/soffice.bin.txt )
Created attachment 41713 [details] This is the file that triggers the problem
Created attachment 41714 [details] Call graph
Fault also exists using OOo 2.1
Mark me down as rash. After 14 minutes of CPU time (about 20-25 elapsed) the document has opened. The second of the two drawings appears to be missing information, though - I believe there should be more information on it.
Confrming with OO 2.1 on WinXP - it took 40 minutes to open this file.
just for the records: - I started SO8PU5 and let it try to open the document ==> An hour later I came back and the document was opened... ==> this simply takes some time ... (I don't know how time it took... )
Reassigned to JW.
confirmed it took 115minutes to open this document on my system. changed os set target OOo2.x looking for an developer resp. for this kind of issues.
after talking to mba reassigned to os changed os to all
Created attachment 42092 [details] odt-version of the bug document
It looks as if adding shapes to the shape groups in the second draw OLE object takes such a long time. On my machine "only" 10 min. The attached .odt-file takes only some seconds to load.
AW->CL: Looks like repaint is active during DrawingLayer object import. Wasn't there something with controller disable to avoid exactly stuff like this?
retargeted
Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
