Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 72774
Search only sorts "by relevance"; makes searching recent content challenging
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:43:11 UTC
Hi. I find the results returned from http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/Search difficult to use, particularly since I cannot sort any of the columns, such as "Posted at", and can only view them "Sorted by relevance" with no available option for any sorting field. My request is to introduce sorting to the search results. This will help us find a needle in a haystack of information. HTML sorting can be implemented by allowing the header of each column to be "clickable", so that the first click sorts acceding, while a second click sorts descending. This is fairly common, and has been implemented, for example, by Apache's "Index" page for a directory listing. Certainly, the sorting for the "1-5 of about 12,579 search results" would have to be done on the server side, then sent back to the client in XHTML, as it is now.
Yes, I also think that it would be great if one could sort the results by relevance, date , last post, and amount of votes. So one could see if there is already an issue you searched for with some votes. See what was the last issue and things like this.
