I was installing the software on a Toshiba Tecra 8100 running win98 SE and came
to the "Install where" dialog when the installation program froze.  I hit
ctrl-alt-del and saw the win98 had detected that it was "Not responding".  I
tried installation several times, always with the same result.

Hi,

That freezing might come from a defect in the OOo installer. Did you
try to dowload it once again? Did you try the previous version? (OOo 1.0)

Hi Euan,
another question: is you computer conncted to LAN? Are there any stale
mapped connections to network drives? OOo is trying to get connect to
these drives and getting system informations.
