Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 72462
OLE frame of formula not correctly updated in Impress
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:13:09 UTC
When I use in Impress the formula: %GAMMA over 2 the upper horizontal line in the %Gamma is NOT visualized, and it appears to be above the 'bounding box' containing the whole formula. A workaround I used is adding white space above: newline %GAMMA over 2 but I think this is far from an optimum solution. I hope I've been clear. Ciao, Leonardo
No problem here for me with OO 2.0.4 on SUSE 10.1. Please download OO 2.0.4 or 2.1 from OOo site and install on your system. Maybe you are working wih a "self-compiled" build of your Linux distributor.

I downloaded OOo_2.1.0_LinuxIntel_install_en-US.tar.gz and installed it on my Drapper Drake PC. Problem is still there. I just sent two files to better show what the situation is. Ciao, Leo
Hm, I still cannot reprodue he problem. I mean, I can see in your odt file, that the top of the object is cu off, but when I double click it, its size will be immediately corrected. So there must be some settings on your sysem, causing OO Math t fail in this point. Do you work on KDE or Gnome? Which Desktop theme? Any Information in this direction may be helpful to reproduce it here... this could be things affecting he window sizes in OOo.
Adding keywords.
I confirm I have the problem on Kubuntu Drapper, kde 3.5.2 (keramik decorator) both with the originally delivered Openoffice (2.0.2) and with the version I downloaded from Openoffice.org server (2.1). I installed then xfce 4.3.90.2 (from official ubuntu repositories), and also in this window manager the problem persists. Same for Gnome (2.14.3 theme: EdubuntuColors) and enlightenment. However, by ssh-ing to a Suse machine and launching its Openoffice (2.0.0.1) the formula box is ok. So it should not depend only on the window manager. More I cannot guess. Leo
I have the same problem under Kubuntu 6.06 LTS. There is a workaround : if I enclose %GAMMA between {} it looks correct. I do not known if enclosing greek letters between {} is mandatory in specifications. @leodp : please, can you try this workaround and tell if it works for you ?
jbfaure, in the meantime I have updated to openoffice 2.2, and I don't have this issue anymore, so I cannot confirm or not that your workaround is effective. Ciao, leodp
Problem is still present in OOo 2.4 and BEA300_m2 under Kubuntu 6.06. @leodp : what have you changed to your system ? only upgraded OOo to 2.2 ? Is it the version downloaded from openoffice.org site ?
Please try a recent OOo build, Kubuntu (8.04) build?

I still encounter the issue in OOo 2.4.1 and Dev300_m21. I can't try another OS : it's not me which decide.
Curious... now I am able to reproduce this on Windows and ubuntu.
MRU->MAV/TL: new Impress document, insert formula object, type %GAMMA over 2 -> the OLE frame is not adapted to formula size, hides part of the formula.
This behavior is also bugging me for a while. It happens in Impress (not in Writer), OOo3.1 on WinXP.
Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
