Description mrpoetry 2002-08-23 16:12:22 UTC
1. Click "Customize Toolbars."
2. Click any Category in the "Functions" section, then any
function in either the "Functions" or "Icons" section.
3. Click on "Buttons."
4. Click the
scroll-down button 3 or more times & then move the mouse. A message box appears: "Program Close.
Application Close. [OK-button]"
   (a) I can click scroll-down 3 times or 10 times; the
application only crashes when I move the mouse after scrolling down the assignable buttons
several times.
   (b) A side-effect is that after the application closes (when I click [OK]), the
icons of my other running programs on the Start/Task bar turn black. The icons here retain their
shape, but all color turns black. When I click anywhere else (i.e. to shift focus away from the
Start/Task bar) the icons return to their normal colors.

I've subsequently found that the application
crashes when scrolling through function icons. No need to click on & scroll through
"Buttons."

Mark, thanks for posting.

Can you list the hardware ( video, processor, etc ) and OS ( version,
patches/service packs ) that you are running OO on?

Are there detailed error messages or logs we can use to reproduce
this issue?

Unable to duplicate issue on Win NT 4.0 SP6a, OO 1.0.1.

TM->UHE: Can you please have a look, thanks !

Not reproducible, works for me under Win2k - OOo 1.0.1.
Waiting for more information about error messages and which hardware
is used.

Thank you for working on this! In answer to your common question
(quoted below), the machine was a Dell desktop -- I think a Pentium
III, 64 MB RAM, running Win98 (2nd edition? -- the one just prior to
ME). ESET NOD32 anti-virus was resident. Few if any other significant
TSRs. It's my computer at work. At home, running XP on a Compaq
Prosignia (Pent II-366) I don't have the problem.

If the above hardware info isn't enough to reproduce the crash,
please e-mail me at mjv@nlcsylvan.com (my work e-mail), & I'll reply
w/a complete hardware profile.

There were no detailed error messages apart from what I wrote in my
original report. If you know of a log I could look at in Win98, let
me know.

This is fixed since 643x.

This caused through that fact OOO uses too much resources to display
all available images (the GDI object count in the task manager rises
from about 100 to 1250)!

Fixed, therefore closed
